Information:
"Moonpiece" was designed as a companion sculpture to "Zong". However, "Zong" became the artist's last major piece. "Moonpiece" was never finished, and remains an elegant but ghostly odalisque of white styrofoam. A bronze casting was planned; however, the artist's illness prevented completion of the piece.
It is photographed here with "Zong" and "Supplicant". In the background is a rice paper rubbing taken from the 9-foot column “Spirit”, by Isamu Akino in 1971. For more information about Isamu and his process, please see endnote in Black Priestess section.
