Information:
Early casting name was Viola. #1/3 - #3/3 were cast at Blue Heron Foundry, Washington. Dave Toresdahl did the final high polish on all three. In 1995, at TRIO Bronze, Langley, from an existing wax and mold, two more were cast, as "Morning Sphinx", to differentiate because the cuts on the wax were not the same as the first 3 cast. #1/3 is owned by the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Mayhew’s notes on a sphinx: “An enigmatic person… Egyptian mythology, head of a ram or hawk, body of a lion; destroyed all who could not answer its riddle.”
