Named "Vulcan" (early Roman fire-god), or "Hephaestus" (Greek god of fire and metal smiths). The masks were early work, 1959-61, sand-cast in iron or bronze. On the back of a photo of "Viking", Mayhew wrote: “The first of 12 masks.” There may have been more.
